Performs the role of nurse leader in providing safe and quality perioperative care to all patients in the unit by assessing, planning, implementing, directing, and evaluating the process of care provided.
Supervise and coordinates activities of nursing personnel in the unit through effective communication, professionalism and leadership in a manner that supports the mission and vision of the organization.

Must demonstrate knowledge of principle of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to assist staff in identifying each patient's needs in relation to age and to provide the care need as described in the department's policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:
Demonstrates knowledge of and behaviors consistent with the Hospital Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Compliance policies and procedures on a daily basis.

Implements and carries out the discipline and discharge procedure when required, assuring that proper documentation is completed and in compliance with hospital policy and/or applicable union contracts.
Meets and exceeds Joint Commission and other regulatory organizational and departmental standards and is involved in the survey process.
Assists in the oversight of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency process to ensure compliance and accreditation within the scope of responsible units.
Attends meetings and actively participates in the Management Council (LEAD), Labor Management (with MNA) and other designated leadership groups.
Develops short- and long-range goals and implements plans to assure on-going delivery of quality care in conjunction with department, hospital goals and community needs.
Accepts 24 hour accountability for his / her department.
Maintains a safe and caring environment for a patient that is conducive to positive health teaching and health maintenance.
Plans, develops, controls, and adjusts annual operating and capital budgets to assure cost-effective utilization of resources - including Charge Master and unit appropriate Charge codes.
Reviews monthly budget reports, analyzes variances, and closely monitors FTE's and staffing pattern for efficiency and effectiveness of department's area and takes action to maximize fiscal soundness.
Develops mechanisms to assess the response to care from patients and families.
Analyzes and acts on data.
Evaluates the effectiveness of clinical programs / committees.
Establishes quality improvement plans for his / her unit and supports the hospital's performance improvement program.
Ensures the appropriate skill mix to support acuity levels.
Other duties as assigned.
Required
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required.
Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required (or eligibility through reciprocity).
Current BLS certification required (must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
Minimum 5 years of recent clinical experience in perioperative nursing including at least one year of leadership experience (i.
e.
management, supervisory, charge nurse, etc.
